A court in the western city of Surat found Gandhi guilty, but granted him bail and suspended the sentence for 30 days to allow him to appeal in a higher court, the Press Trust of India reported, quoting the Congress leader’s lawyer, Babu Mangukiya. Gandhi was present in court when the verdict was pronounced. The case was filed against Gandhi for making a disparaging remark about the prime minister’s name at an election rally in the state of Karnataka, PTI reported.
